Are you ready for winter’s snow? This year went by like a blur to me. I practically did nothing else except work 24/7 to finish the construction of my residential refurbishment project and designing three other projects simultaneously. Et voila! The refurbishment project is finally finished! Now I can finally breathe, and prepare for my upcoming business trip to Japan and Thailand. Yup! I will be saying ‘Sayonara’ to London for 6 weeks. Instead of the dull grey sky, I will spend time in my two most favourite countries in the world. I cannot wait to embark on this adventure. Japan will be under a snow blanket, while Thailand will be full of warm sunshine. Just thinking about it already give me a huge smile. This makes packing a little tricky, especially when I plan to pack light.
WHAT I WORE
The most important item for this trip to Japan is the warmest winter jacket because Shirakawa-go, my first destination, will be in subzero temperature upon arrival. A statement puffer jacket is the perfect choice, when suitcase’s space is limited. Winter is all about warm outerwear, so a puffer jacket with bold colours/pattern will not only add interest to a very basic casual outfit, but also be versatile enough to wear in several occasion. This is much better than packing many heavy coats.
In my case, I already have the perfect winter statement piece in my wardrobe from Peter Pilotto’s AW12 collection. So no shopping for me this season! I actually found this piece in one of their sample sales, so not only was it a bargain, it was also the exact piece worn on the runway! It is like having a museum worthy piece of couture in one’s modest little wardrobe! I love everything about the jacket… the unique cut that transforms a boring puffer jacket into something very cool… the many shades of blues that gradually turn to grey then black… the bold geometrical pattern that not only striking to look at, but also make the piece ultra-sophisticated. With this jacket as the centrepiece, the rest of the outfit can just be plain, simple pieces.
For today’s look, I chose to wear it with a pair of skinny jeans from 7 For All Mankind (Similar Here, Affordable Here), a black Heat Tech top from Uniqlo (Similar Here and Here), and a pair of House of Spring Trainers (Similar Here and Here). I ended up carrying two Chanel bags together because I could not decide which one was better, so I went with both! Yup! I’m all set for some snow. Bring it on!
What about you? What is your favourite outerwear for this winter?
