Last weekend was London Fashion Week Mens SS18. Although I am certainly no expert on menswear, I did make an effort to check out Belstaff dual gender collection presentation last Monday to see their women’s collection. After all, I am a big fan of Belstaff‘s understated style, yet practical high performance garments. They suit my urban lifestyle very well because as a professional architect who frequently works outdoor, and spends a lot of time in hostile environments even while I live in central London. It is hard to find garments that are durable, versatile and add the cool factor to everyday outfit all at the same time.
The bold colours graphic design and juxtaposition of contrasting textures of Belstaff‘s latest collection inspired by undulating terrains of North Africa added a fresh note onto Belstaff‘s classic iconic looks.
I loved how Delphine Ninous mixed a casual bright yellow graphic t-shirt with a formal Prince of Wales check pattern to create a spontaneous yet sophisticated casual urban look. There is a certain understated elegance to a very casual motorcycle chic collection that I found very exciting.
Another aspect of the collection that was absolutely fascinating was an introduction of new fabric for Belstaff‘s classic outerwear such as the Trailmaster and Roadmaster jackets that are now not only lightweight, windproof, waterproof, breathable but also provides UV protection as well! I am not sure if this technology is common in fashion industry, but this is the first time I ever come across a UV protective garment. Not sure what is the sun protection factor for these though, but definitely will find out more about them next Spring!
