‘STAR’ by Julien Macdonald : Affordable Luxury For Your Home
One of the biggest challenges I find as a practising architect and interior designer is definitely sourcing high quality, well designed interior décor products at affordable prices. There are plenty to choose from at the top end of the market, but when it comes to smaller budget projects, options become very limited, which means that one needs to be more creative in adapting items to suit the design directions. Sourcing home accessories for modern art deco style at small budget, in particular, is a tough one because this style requires higher attention to details. So you can imagine my delight, when I was invited to the breakfast preview of ‘STAR’ last Thursday – an art deco inspired home accessories collection, designed by Julien Macdonald in collaboration with Debenhams – where he and his design team transforms the penthouse of Sanderson Hotel into a truly glamorous decadent home.
Not only does ‘STAR’ stay true to his signature style visible in all his red carpet worthy gowns, every product within the collection displays high level of detailing and craftsmanship, but retailed at very affordable prices.
His Spring/Summer 2017 Collection which is now available at Debenhams brings delicate feminine touch to the space with soft pink hues, refined texture, intricate ruffles and pearlescent finishes combined with subtle shimmering metallic. One of my favourite pieces were definitely his ‘Arienne’ duvet cover with intricate details resembling cherry blossom petals because well designed bedlinens are one of the hardest items to find at any budget range, yet the prices of ‘Arienne’ duvet covers start from £47.00 for single bed, ranging up to £78.00 for emperor bed!
‘STAR’ interior collection dazzles with embellished art deco inspired beading, sparkling embellishment, and etched lace detailing. I was so impressed with these glamorous statement pieces because they are certainly must-have affordable luxury for any homes.
Here are some of the highlights from the collection. Let me know what you think of them in the comments below…
