1 Kambodja Burgundy Clutch 3 Occasions
What is a good buy when it comes to fashion pieces? To me, a good buy is anything – whether it be a clothing items or accessories – that can be worn many different ways, can be easily mixed with other basics in the wardrobe and instantly elevates the overall outfit, can be worn all year round and does not look like it is out of fashion, high quality craftsmanship so that it lasts for many years, because I do not like buying new outfits every time a fashion trend is out. It is wasteful and personally not sustainable for me because my bank account is rather small… so is the size of my wardrobe… and my house… There will be nowhere to store all these seasonable buys if I keep accumulating them… My bank account will cry too because there are other more important things in life to take care of… Generally, I am on the lazy side when it comes to housekeeping, so the less the clutter in my home, the happier I will be… So, let’s be a sensible consumer and go for a high quality elevated basic that will instantly makes your outfit special, yet works well with different styles and occasions, shall we?
One of these, so-called, ‘elevated basics’, is this burgundy leather clutch bag from Kambodja. A clutch bag is a wardrobe stable that every woman should have. However, if you go for a minimal design pouch style clutch that is not too small, made of high quality leather and craftsmanship –check that the stitching is strong and neat, so it does not fall apart after a few wear – with a bit of interesting detail such as an ethnic pattern like this Kambodja clutch that I have, or a cool graphic design one on plain background, or one with some kind of subtle textured details such as metal studs, your investment in the one clutch bag can go a long long way. You can also go for safe colours such as black, white or neutrals, but for me I prefer a subtle colour option such as burgundy because most of my clothes are already in basic neutral colours, so it is good for the clutch bag to be the star of the show.
In this post, I paired my burgundy leather clutch with 3 different style of outfits from my typical everyday work/life routine, taken last week.
Occasion 1: Morning Matcha Latte on a Typical Work Day
This is my most typical look, black skinny jeans, white t-shirt, a black blazer and a pair of black flats or sneakers. I like to keep my feet comfortable… I walk a lot you know, and I truly believe that one should never sacrifice style for comfort… so no heels! The burgundy clutch is the perfect size because it is large enough to fit my wallet, my phone, pens and notepad, so I can use it as an alternative to my rucksack or tote bag.

Occasion 2: Saturday Portobello Market Walk
Those of you who have been following my blog know how much I love spending time in markets, both for antiques and for food. On Saturdays, Portobello Market is my usual spot for browsing antique knick-knacks, catching up with friends for nice lunch or tea.
Belstaff Leather Jackets are my favourite for weekend outfits especially during Spring or Autumn because leather jackets are both windproof and waterproof, so I can wear something light underneath in case the sun is out and the unpredictable London weather decides to be nice and warm, and still be kept reasonably protected when the rain or cold wind starts to show up without having to layer on too much.
Again the burgundy clutch adds a pop of colour to this very basic outfit, and I think the ethnic Cambodian Sarong detail makes the whole outfit looks effortlessly special.

Occasion 3: Interior Décor Sourcing
Every now and then, a visit to art galleries or antique showrooms or interior décor showrooms is part of my everyday life as an architect and interior designer. I try not to be too scruffy for these visits, so sometimes I wear a maxi dress or long skirt with a light jacket.
In this outfit though, I wanted to show you that even if the outfit is colourful, such as this green dress, the burgundy clutch can still complement it, even if greens and reds tend to clash if they are not the right tones. On this occasion, the whole outfit matches the interior space as well, but this was not intentional by the way!
