In New York, an iconic thing to do is Breakfast At Tiffany’s… In London, it is definitely Christmas at Burberry!
The brand is fast becoming THE Quintessentially British Institution with its flagship store evolving into something of a centre of all things British, recently expanded to include a quaint little British cafe Thomas, and Homeware department which my architect/interior designer self has completely fallen in love with… Obviously on top of my already obsessive obsession of Burberry clothes, of course!
The cafe, though, I have not tried their menu yet, but admittingly, their food looks delicious, especially afternoon tea. One more place to check out on my restaurant list for sure!
This year is the second year that I have been invited to Burberry’s Festive Campaign Launch Party, which turns out to be quite an event, with far more A-List celebrities than last year – not that surprising since the party was cohosted by Sir Elton John. The highlight of the evening though was undoubtedly a most wonderful live performance of Billy Elliot’s “Electricity” by the very young and incredibly talented Nat Sweeney, the star of Billy Elliot The Musical. After all, the campaign was inspired by the opening credit of the movie and is also a celebration of 15 years of Billy Elliot.
Although last year’s Festive Campaign was rather romantic and heartwarming, I have to admit that this year’s campaign is much more iconic, and probably a lot more interesting to watch on TV at home! The full campaign can be seen below:
I decided to arrive at the party early to do a little browsing of Burberry Gifts Collection before the lightings were dimmed and the place became too crowded. Completely fell in love with their displays with those gorgeous grenadier wooden puppets, the little baby bucket bags and Thomas the teddy bear… I was seriously considering casually taking them home with me, but well, there were too many people watching!
Burberry has also recently started bespoke monogramming service exclusively at their flagship store in Regent’s Street, which I thought was quite cool to be able to have one’s scarf or leather goods personalised with one’s initials. Perfect gift idea, don’t you think?
Even though this is only the first week of November, the occasion has completely gotten me into Christmas spirit! It was also my first Christmas Party of 2015, which is not a bad place to kick-off the party season, is it?
The event serves as the perfect reminder that one should start Christmas Shopping, yes? Christmas shopping at Burberry might be a good place to begin!
…and if anyone is wondering what to get me for Christmas, well, I think I might have hinted my wishlist in the previous paragraphs!! 😉
