Maitre Choux

A cute new patisserie opened in my neighbourhood called Maitre Choux…  Not only does it come with an adorable shopfront, the eclairs, choux buns and signature hot chocolate made by the founding pastry chef, Joakim Prat, are absolutely amazing and totally addictive!  I have been going there everyday to try out all their flavours… (Also I need a break and some fresh air from drawing all day…)  So far, my favourite flavours are Caramel Choux and Lemon Meringue Eclair.

It was my strategy not to buy a box of these because they are so moreish that I knew I would end up eating the whole box in one go instead of keeping them in the fridge…  Besides, fresh cream fillings are best eaten fresh, hence, the daily visit to the shop!!

Pretty eye candy and a treat for your tummy!

I must admit that these little colourful gems are quite pricey…  An eclair is £5.20 each and a choux bun is £3.00 each…  But having tasted them, I can wholeheartedly say that they worth the price because they are pretty much the best choux and eclairs I have tasted.. ever…  Personally, I think Maitre Choux eclairs are even better than Parisienne’s Eclair De Genie, but of course this is debatable…  Either way, I am happy that I no longer have to go all the way to Paris for a good eclair and choux pastry because now there is one just 10 minutes walk from home!

If you come by South Kensington, I highly recommend you visit this little shop for some eye candy and a treat for your tummy…  A word of warning though, there is always a long queue at lunch time and everything runs out by 4pm, so best to come early so you can get your pick of a nice flavour before all the good ones disappear!!
