A Little Candy Gems, Pastels and Petals at Burberry Headquarter

After the beautiful presentation of Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2014 from Kensington Garden, which was absolutely breathtaking, and pretty much the highlight of my day last Monday (unfortunately, my photos were all blurry. Next time I will make a video like the one at Peter Pilotto instead!), I was invited to a private view of the collection at the Burberry Global Headquarter in Horseferry Road, London…

It was an amazing experience, which can only be justified by pictures rather than words…   The runway collection was even more stunning close up than when seen on the models during the show.

The craftsmanship of sewing the jewel embellishment on traditional English hand lace is immaculate, especially on the tulle skirt, which must have been so difficult to achieve since the jewels are so much heavier than the delicate tulle fabric.

As mentioned before in my previous post, I have been having a crush on the big crush bag from their AW13 collection.  My crush continue to grow to epic proportion for these candy colour petal bags.  Not only the colours are soft and fresh, perfect for spring and summer days, they’re also slightly bigger than the small crush, so one can carry everything one needs (I, for one, have a lot in my day bag), but again the construction is unstructured and allows the bag to be folded, crushed, scrunched or however you want to call it, into a neat little clutch.  Petal bags also come in various combination of materials such as pastel coloured translucent rubber on leather, or colourful rubber flowers, leather flowers, feather flowers on leather to name a few.  These are really experimental yet surprisingly elegant.

On top of the collection, the architecture was also quite stunning….  The Burberry grid theme from their signature check was seen incorporated into several layers of architectural features such as window frames, bridge panels, rhythm of windows, vertical mullions supporting the glass walls, fittingly reflecting the brand image down to the smallest details.  It was certainly a rare glimpse into the World of Burberry Global Headquarter.

That's amazing! You're so lucky to have been invited to view the collection at their Headquarter! Did you meet Christopher Bailey too?
